Description

These 100 packs of 12V DC Female Power Connector adapters are a good solution for UK installers and hobbyists to have when they need to connect 12V-powered devices. All connectors will have 5.5mm (outer) X 2.1mm (inner) barrel sizes – the typical 5.5mm (outer) x 2.1mm (inner) sizes of CCTV cameras, LED light strips, and DIY electronics power cables. These female jacks are made of nickel-plated H65 copper contacts and a corrosion-resistant and high-temperature PVC housing.

The screw terminals built into the connector, in practice, allow you to clamp the power wires, and you do not have to solder them. The unit is small (when compared to 38x14x12 mm) but durable enough with a life of more than 500 plug-in cycles. It is rated at a maximum of 18 V and 2 A (tested at 1000 V capacity) and can safely operate most low-voltage systems. If more current is required (i.e., longer runs of LEDs), versions accommodate up to 6A with 12 V/24 V.

Specifications of 12 V DC Female Power connector:

  • Type of connector: 12V DC Female power connector (5.5 × 2.1mm barrel jack) – a centre-positive, weather-resistant connector type.
  • Dimensions: Barrel outer 0.55mm, inner 0.21mm; total size of the barrel is approximately 38 x 14 x 12 mm to fit easily.
  • Electrical Rating: 2A maximum 12 V DC (supports 24 V models) High-power models operate 6A LED/CCTV.
  • Construction Construction: PVC housing and nickel-surged copper contacts make them durable; they can have more than 500 insertions and conform to the RoHS/REACH safety standards.
  • Installation: Screw-clamp connections enable the wiring to be done without tools; simply snap in the DC plug and screw it.
  • Characteristics: 100 Pack: 12V DC Female Power connector adapter jacks (5.5 x 2.1 mm), 1 bulk package, perfect for installer and prototype applications.

Compatibility & Usage

Ideal for LED strip lights, routers and DIY electronics. Ideal for UK CCTV cameras. Every 12V DC Female Power Connector goes straight into the corresponding 12V power sources and adapters. These adapters are used to add length or fix DC power leads of security cameras, LED lighting and other 12V DC appliances.

FAQs

What size are these “12V DC female” jacks — are they all the same?
The external x internal footprint of the vast bulk of consumer electronics bulk packs is the standard 5.5 mm outward by 2.1 mm inward, which suppliers of the smaller size (5.5 x 2.5 mm) can also supply. It does not have a universal size, and hence, examine the product specifications and purchase.
How can I tell if the jack will fit my device without guessing?
The quickest one is the oven: carpiometer As long as you have callipers and the simple pen/toothpick test (a pen usually fits 2.5 mm, and a toothpick fits about 2.1 mm), you could also measure the plug that has been included with your device. In any case, confirm the inner-diameter (ID) spec of the listing.
Which way is the polarity — is the center positive or negative?
No universal standard, although the majority of consumer wall-wart 12V outlets (tip/centre) are usually centre-positive (+). Nevertheless, there are also models that require centre-negative, meaning it is best to always look at the label of the device/adapter (polarity symbol) when connecting it. Incompatible polarity will leave electronics ruined.
What current (amps) can a typical 12V female barrel jack handle?
The builds are rated based on build quality. The most common are many small, generic jacks used in the range of about 1-2 A, and heavier ones sold for as much as 4-5 and above – do not assume any jack one picks up can be used for high-current purposes. The amp rating of the seller should always be reviewed on the specific SKU.
I’m wiring or replacing jacks for a project — any quick do’s and don’ts?
Do: purchase jacks sold with pre-wires, strip/tin wire before soldering, solder the centre conductor to the inner contact and the outer/shield to the barrel, and verify the polarity using a multimeter until you are certain that everything is properly connected. Don't: estimate polarity or use up wire gauge – thin wire on a high-ampere gadget is going to overheat.
Is buying a 100-pack worth it? What should I check on the product page?
In the case of workshops, installers, or resellers, a 100-pack can be cost-effective; however, do not disregard the following specifications first: the size (5.5x2.1 vs 5.5x2.5), amp and voltage rating, pre-wired or loose, contact plating and strain relief (enhance durability), and the policy on returns of the seller. In case you have a mixed environment, then you need to purchase a small testing pack at the first stage.
